Noaa's Citizen Hurricane Scientists Take Down Charley and Frances

Cyclone Center posted an update on its crowdsourced hurricane analysis. So far this month almost 2,000 volunteers contributed about 11,000 classifications of the hurricanes Charley and Frances. Meteorologists at Noaa teamed up with the citizen scientists at Zooniverse to classify the agency’s four decades of hurricane satellite images. When its all over, Noaa will have a clean, consistent database of hurricane data that it can use to study how hurricanes develop and how climate change affects hurricanes’ intensity.
