Teachers Learn Asteroid Science for the Classroom

The team at Cosmoquest, the crowdsourced planetary science project, launched its InVestaGate teacher development workshop. A group of 20 educators from Illinois learned how to incorporate asteroids and comets into the science classroom. Nasa’s Dawn mission to Vesta and Ceres and Esa’s Rosetta mission to the comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, give planetary scientists new insights into the “rubble” left over after the planets formed. Cosmoquest’s Asteroid Mappers: Vesta Edition lets the public review images sent to Earth by Dawn to map its unusual geography.
